Cops snag city bus in sex sting

(July 14) Chicago Transit Authority officials had to come up with $1,250 to retrieve a bus impounded by police in a neighboring suburb after its driver was picked up in a prostitution sting. The driver was reportedly on duty but not carrying any passengers when he stopped the bus and solicited an undercover police officer.

Artist wins child porn appeal

(July 14) An Australian appeals judge has overturned a child porn conviction obtained earlier this year against internationally acclaimed artist Glen Walls for his montage of a girl with superimposed images of an erect penis. Judge Kenneth Howie said he took into account "the unchallenged evidence of the standing of Mr Walls as an artist" and accepted his explanation that the material had "a legitimate artistic purpose."

Soldiers sue newspapers over sex charge

(July 14) Two British soldiers have filed a libel suit against newspapers that reported they'd had sex during an Army exercise in Oman. An attorney for Captain Sarah Pedder, 26, and Staff Sergeant Al Dummer, 39, said the allegations were "wholly untrue and very, very offensive." As a result of the story, Pedder was booted out of the service and Dummer was demoted.

Hotel covered in world's biggest condom

(July 14) A 20-story, phallic-shaped hotel in the southern Chinese city of Guilin has been wrapped in a bright yellow sheath to mark U.N. World Population Day in the most populous nation on the globe. The Guilin Latex Company is asking publishers of the Guinness Book of World Records to recognize their 260-foot tall condom as the world's biggest.

Beyonce rapped for Grant Tomb gyrations

(July 13) A Ulysses S. Grant buff says the government and NBC should have stopped a scantily clad Beyonce Knowles from dancing in a "patently inappropriate" way on the steps of the former president's tomb during her July 4 performance. Frank Scaturro, president of the Grant Monument Association, said the former Destiny's Child singer's "lascivious choreography" and barely-dressed backup dancers lacked the proper decorum.
