Court asked to halt liquor store porn seizures

(December 4) A Houston distributor of adult magazines and other products asked a federal judge on Wednesday for an emergency order to stop the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission's raids on liquor stores selling the company's items. An attorney for Carico Distributing Co. says agents are making seizures without a warrant or judicial ruling that the materials were obscene.

School blocks all X-rated film projects

(December 4) Officials at New York University are adopting a new policy that will prohibit students from undertaking hardcore films or video projects. The move came after a professor okayed one student's plan to film two other students having sex at the front of a classroom.

Indian writer wins 'bad sex' prize

(December 4) A turbo-charged account of a lover's romantic liaison involving engine oil, Bugattis and Volkswagens has driven an Indian writer to this year's Literary Review's "Bad Sex in Fiction" award. The winning passage in Aniruddha Bahal's Bunker 13 describes a woman in the act "eating up the road with all cylinders blazing."

Banned D.H. Lawrence paintings shown

(December 4) Paintings by controversial writer D.H. Lawrence featuring naked men and women in thinly-disguised sexual poses will be displayed for the first time in London after being banned more than 70 years ago. Strangely, the ban on the paintings still stands, but police said they were unlikely to take any action unless they received a complaint.

Nervous woman strips naked at airport

(December 4) A 44-year-old German woman who apparently succumbed to an attack of nerves at Cairo airport before boarding a flight to Frankfurt stripped naked as astonished passengers looked on. Airport authorities brought in an Egyptian woman doctor who injected her with a tranquilizer. The plane left without her.

Man dies trying to peep naked corpse

(December 4) A Chinese man fell to his death after climbing up the side of a building in Shenzhen to get a better look at the naked body of a prostitute. His death reportedly set off rumors that the ghost of the woman had lured the man to his death to be her companion in the afterlife.
