One of the forms of birth control I've used over the years is an IUD. It worked great, but it made my period last for 7 days instead of 3 or 4, and one of the ones I had, the little wire that sticks out of the end of the cervix used to bite my husband on the end of his penis sometimes when we had sex. Amusing as hell for me; not very fun for him. Good thing you get a new one every couple of years.

It's not likely to happen, and it's inserted in your uterus, not your vagina. It's the little bits that stick out for the doctor to remove it with that bit my ex. I think they make them of something less rigid nowadays.

I haven't heard much about IUDs lately, and my girlfriends over the years didn't use them. I'm not sure about the one-night fling ladies.
Are they still as popular as they once were ? |

People don't really talk about IUD's in that manner. It's like something that isn't too popular with young women.

More and more the drugs are becoming popular, but I don't know how safe it is to suppress your period for more than a year at a time. I wouldn't want to go much longer than that because it's not normal. Even after pregnancy, and with breastfeeding, your period comes back within a few months, so a year would be about the safe limit, I would think.
