Any of the guys here have the big V? My partner had it some years ago after he and his wife were done having kids, and my ex had it done when I was pregnant with our third. My ex had a bad reaction at first and his scrotum swelled up about the size of a softball. It was very painful, but was okay in the end. I felt really bad for him, though, and thought maybe it would have been better for me to get my tubes tied even though it's a longer and more complicated surgery.

A vasectomy is a popular and safe method to prevent conception but my man is against with it because the doctor said that vasectomy is generally not recommended for couples under the age of 25. Do you agree?

Under 25 is kind of young to be deciding you never, ever want to have children, so I can see that reasoning. On the other hand, some people just know they're not parenting material, but I suppose waiting until 25 or older is not a bad idea.

QL... I've heard that sex-life after the Big-V is sometimes significantly improved. Have you found that to be the case? They say it's psychological, that there is a sense of freedom when not having to worry about birth control.

That's a good question, AA. I'm trying to remember. My ex had it done almost 16 years ago and we split up in '98, and I honestly don't remember. With my current partner, it's nice not to have to worry about getting pregnant--I'll be 50 in December and the idea of a baby now is horrifying to me.

Its just like a woman getting her tubes tide. They won't do it if you are under 25 and if you only have one child. I dont know why they make it that way but I feel as if, if you want to do that then why not.

My friend had vasectomy but he got a kid even after that. I dont know whats wrong with that there are more than 5 couples in my neighbor who have kids after doing vasectomy.

Sounds like the doctor isn't doing a good enough job or taking enough of the vas deferens out when he does it.
